Ways to Explore with Us
We each come with different sensibilities. You may have an interest in sacred art and architecture, a love of geometry and pattern, a draw toward pilgrimage and ancient paths, an interest in the Christian imagination, or a longing for a deeper contemplative life. You may simply be curious, or you may be seeking a more imaginative, embodied and soulful encounter with Christianity. Whatever brings you here, you are welcome.
Our approach is invitational rather than prescriptive. We offer experiences, practices and ways of seeing, then make space for you to notice what they awaken in you. There is no single response you are expected to have. We listen to one another’s experience rather than telling one another what to think or believe.
Explore through online courses, study journeys, retreats and pilgrimages — or go deeper through longer contemplative journeys and companion circles.
A Cataphatic and Sacramental Way
Christian contemplation has often moved along two paths. The apophatic way approaches the sacred through silence, stillness, emptiness and unknowing. The cataphatic way approaches through what can be seen, heard, imagined and encountered — through art and story, beauty and pattern, landscape, scripture and the living world.
We draw on both. Yet alongside the familiar contemplative language of silence, stillness and unknowing, we want to explore the extraordinary riches of the cataphatic contemplative tradition — ways of encountering the sacred that were deeply familiar to earlier generations of Christians.
These include pilgrimage and sacred place; a life attuned to feast, season and the rhythms of the natural world; contemplation through sacred art and scripture; pattern, beauty and the senses; and imaginal encounters with image and story as doorways into deeper mystery.
We can already see something of this ancient inheritance awakening again in the extraordinary revival of pilgrimage to Santiago and other sacred places. The Beauty Path asks what else might be recovered — not as a return to the past, but as a living, sacramental way of seeing and encountering the world today.
