SAMHAIN RETREAT ON THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO

A pilgrimage into the Celtic turning of the year

10 days | 26 Oct – 6 Nov, 2026

Journey to Northern Spain for an all-inclusive 10 days on the Camino de Santiago where we experience Samhain on Celtic land. Through myth, ritual, story, creative practice and shared reflections, we explore the archetypal themes of the Samhain journey. Enter into the season when the earth slows down and the deeper currents of the soul begin to stir.

What to expect

• Encounters with the ancestral imagination of the land

• Journeys into myths, symbols, cosmology

• Experiential and creative practices rooted in earth, place and sacred imagination

• Sharing circles and depth work

• Times of silence and contemplative attention with the landscape

• Rituals in community and an embodied pilgrimage

Location

  • Six days on site at a beautiful retreat centre dedicated to pilgrims, pilgrimage & soul work.

  • Castrillo de los Polvazares is an ancient stone village whose patron saint is Mary Magdalene. The village stands beside a Celtic mound that bears her name, echoing layers of devotion and myth in the landscape.

Immersive visits

  • Discover stunning landscapes

  • A sacred oak grove and a sacred mountain

  • A hermitage secluded in nature where the moura dwells

  • A megalithic earth chamber aligned with the Samhain sunrise that you can enter.

Pilgrimage

  • Three days on the Camino.

  • Walk as much or as little as you wish. Or continue your soul work spending the day in the stunning villages of Rabanal & El Acebo.

  • However the journey unfolds, the Camino, ancestors and land form a sacred temenos supporting your personal pilgrimage.

The Valley of Silence

  • Our final two nights are in the breathtaking Valley of Silence — an alluring landscape of ancient monasteries and caves, that has drawn mystics, hermits and seekers for millennia.

Open for 10 years l We have run over sixty retreats and Caminos

Your Facilitators

  • Basia Goodwin (MA) and Bertrand Gamrowski (PhD) are sacred art practitioners, educators, retreat leaders and pilgrim guides. Together they run a retreat centre dedicated to pilgrimage, sacred landscape and the work of the soul. Over the past decade they have guided more than sixty retreats and pilgrimages, leading groups in experiential encounters with sacred places, symbolic architecture and the deeper imagination of the land. Their work explores the Beauty Path through sacred space and living landscape, where outer pilgrimage becomes a mirror for the inner journey.

  • Susan Thompson (MA, AMI) is a Jungian-based Spiritual Director in private practice, a Mentor at the Haden Institute, and a Founder of the Guild for Transformational Studies (Jungian-based home study groups, classes, and retreats for spiritual and psychological growth). She engages individuals and groups in examining the trajectory of their sacred life journeys. At the core of her work is a deep curiosity of what it means to be a human living in the presence of Mystery: that life holds questions meant for each of us to explore and greater wholeness can develop when we unearth undiscovered material in the unconscious and bring it into consciousness through pilgrimage, expressive writing and art, and somatic experiences.
