Casrtillo de los Polvazares is a traditional Maragato village and is considered one of the most beautiful villages in the whole of Spain. The houses and streets are entirely built using local stone and it is in complete harmony with the surrounding landscape.
The stones are rich in iron and have beautiful red, orange, golden hues. This contrasts to the doors, and windows painted green, blue and red. The village sparkles in the Spanish sunlight and the stones seem to catch fire and glow at dusk.
