We are located on a 1km alternative Camino detour in the "Maragateria"
7km after Astorga in the province of Castilla y Leon. This historic village has a long history of receiving pilgrims and is considered
one of the most beautiful in all of Spain.
The village is entirely built using local stones
rich in iron, giving the stones beautiful red, orange, golden hues. This contrasts to the doors,
and windows painted green, blue and red. The village sparkles in the Spanish sunlight and the
stones seem to catch fire and glow at dusk.
The people of the village, known as "Maragatos" are proud of their traditions
and customs. You can see their beautiful traditional dresses and dances every year at the "La Magdalena"
festivities. Their patron Saint Mary Magdalene is celebrated at the end of July.
